My Philips HomeRun vacuum cleaner robot does not return to the station

Published on 06 December 2023
If your Philips HomeRun vacuum and mop robot is not returning to the Auto-Empty station, find the possible causes and solutions below.
XU series robots

Your robot vacuum returns to its charging station and starts charging automatically once it has completed its cleaning routine or when the battery is empty. To ensure your robot returns to the charging station:

  • Ensure the robot is not blocked; open all doors on its route and remove any obstacles close to the station.
  • Verify that the station is connected to the wall socket. If it is not, your robot cannot locate the station.
  • Check if you have created Virtual walls or No-Go zones that prevent your robot from returning to the station.
  • Do not place the station in bright sunlight, near staircases or under furniture: this will block the infrared signal that helps the robot find its way back to the station.
  • Install the station in a location with good Wi-Fi coverage.
  • Check that you have allowed sufficient space to the sides and front of the station. An area of 0.5 m on both sides and 1 m in front of the station must be kept free.
  • Place the station on a hard floor, not on soft floors like carpets or rugs.
  • The station must be on a leveled surface against a wall.
  • Make sure that your robot starts cleaning from the station.
  • Ensure the wheel does not slip. Use a dry cloth to wipe the wheel and clean the water on the base slope and ground at the same time.
  • If the robot encounters a failure, please solve the problem according to the voice broadcast obstacles and APP tips.
  • Check if the drive wheels, front wheel, and the small wheel on the front are stuck with foreign objects, such as hairs, sand, etc. Please try to clear the foreign objects on the wheels, pivot the wheels to see if they can rotate normally, and pull out the front wheel to clear the foreign objects.
  • For XU7000 and XU7100: Check if there is dust on the window on the front side of your robot and on the infrared signaling window of the station (the area where the robot connects with the station) and remove the dust with a cloth (see image below).
  • For XU3000XU3100, and XU3110: Check if there is dust on the sensors of the robot and/or the window on the station (the area where the robot connects with the station) and remove the dust with a cloth (see image below).
  • For XU6500: Check if there is dust on the window in front of your robot and on the infrared signaling window of the station (the area where the robot connects with the station) and remove the dust with a cloth.
