My Philips Steam Generator Iron does not produce any steam
Published on 26 January 2023
If your Philips Steam Generator Iron stopped producing steam, please read our troubleshooting advice below to solve this.
There is no water in the water tank
If the water level on your Philips Steam Generator Iron is below the minimum level or there is no water in the tank, your iron is not able to generate steam. Please refill the water tank with water. Ensure that there is water in the tank or the water is above the MIN level icon. After this, your iron should work again.
The iron is not ready to steam
Your Philips Steam Generator Iron needs up to 2 minutes for heating up, before it is ready to produce steam. Please wait until the blue / white 'iron ready' light stops flashing and lights up continuously.
The steam trigger is not pressed
You need to press the steam trigger to generate steam. If you have a Philips Steam Generator Iron with OptimalTemp, always press the steam button to generate steam.
Note:If you have a Philips Steam Generator Iron with a temperature dial, always make sure that the temperature dial is at the 2-dot, 3-dot or the LINEN position as shown in the image below. Your Philips Iron does not produce steam when the temperature dial is at the 1-dot position, the SYNTH setting or in Calc-Clean.
The iron needs to be descaled
If the red Calc-Clean light blinking on your iron in combination with a beeping sound, your Philips Steam Generator Iron needs to be descaled before it can produce steam again. Please descale your iron. Find here all descaling information for your Philips Iron.
The iron is used for the first time
When you press your iron’s steam trigger for the first time, you will experience a steam delay of 30 seconds. During these 30 seconds, you will hear a pumping sound but no steam will come out. The pumping sound is normal and you can keep pressing the steam trigger till steam comes out.
Note:The 30 seconds steam delay could take up to a few minutes when the iron was stored for a long time.
Note:Do not forget to fill in the water tank with water before pressing the steam button for the first time.
Automatic steam mode or Speed mode is off
If you prefer to use the Automatic steam mode or Speed mode, ensure that the mode is activated (the indicator of the mode should be lighted up, usually a light on top of the handle), and then move your Philips Steam Generator iron to have steam.
