The battery of my Philips groomer/hair clipper runs out quickly

Published on 30 June 2025

If the battery of your Philips groomer or hair clipper is running out more quickly than expected, we recommend:

  1. Ensuring the battery is fully charged before each use
  2. Cleaning your product thoroughly
  3. Applying oil to the blades when appropriate

Follow the steps detailed below in the order given. Between each step, check if the problem has been resolved.

Note: Hair that is thicker or denser than average requires more power to cut. This may require charging the product more regularly than expected.

Note: Before using your Philips product for the first time, charge the battery fully. Charging information is included in the user manual provided.

Fully charging your groomer or hair clipper before each grooming session can help prevent the battery from running out at undesirable moments. Refer to the article How do I charge my Philips groomer, trimmer or clipper? to find out more about charging your product.

Some Philips hair clippers can also be used while connected to the power outlet. Refer to the user manual to find out if this applies to your product.

Tip: You can find the user manual for your product online by clicking here and searching the model number.

A buildup of cut hair and debris within your groomer or clipper can create additional resistance, making the motor work harder and use more power. Cleaning the product regularly and removing any buildup of cut hair is essential for optimal performance.

Refer to the article How do I clean my Philips groomer? for details.

Note: Always check if your device is waterproof before cleaning it with water. Refer to user manual for details.

Some Philips groomers and clippers require regular oiling to work efficiently. If this applies to your product, oil will be included in the pack.

Simply apply a couple of drops of oil to the cutting teeth, then switch on the device to distribute the oil.

Note: if oil was provided with your product but you have lost it or run out, generic sewing machine oil can be used instead. Additional oil cannot be purchased from Philips.

If you've followed the steps above and you're still experiencing issues with your product, please contact us for support.

If none of these tips help, your Groomer or Hair Clipper may be damaged internally. We recommend that you request a repair or exchange for your product.
