My Philips Airfryer does not work or switch on

Published on 15 December 2024

If your Philips Airfryer does not turn on at all or turns on but does not work or heat up, read our article below for possible causes and solutions.

  • Please make sure the plug of your Airfryer is correctly inserted into the socket.
  • If too many appliances are plugged into the same socket, then your Philips Airfryer might not work. Please, unplug the other appliances or use another socket.
  • For analog devices it may be the case that the timer is ticking but the device is not heating up. If that is the case, please make sure that the plug of your Airfryer is correctly inserted into the socket.

Drawer is not completely closed
Some airfryer models have the pan detection feature. This feature switches off the heater and fan when removing the airfryer pan.
Please ensure you inserted the pan in the airfryer and that the drawer is completely closed. Otherwise, your airfryer will not switch on.

Pan detection mechanism might be broken
Please remove the pan from your airfryer and check for any cracks/damage at the plastic parts, mainly the edges of the pan (see the image below). If you notice any damage or cracks, contact us for further assistance.

Specifically for models HD9880/HD9875/HD9876, remove the airfryer pan from the drawer and flip it upside down. The pan detection module is installed on the right side next to the basket handle holder recess (see image below).

On one side, you will notice a small plastic cover (see the image below). If that is missing, the pan detection will not work. In that case, contact us at www.philips.com/contact and we will be glad to assist you.

The temperature is set too low
If you set your Airfryer to cook at 40°C (100°F) or below, then it may seem that it is not heating up (especially when the temperature in the surrounding environment is similar to this).

Please check the temperature set in your Philips Airfryer and increase it if needed.

No time has been set, or cooking time is too short (Analog Airfryer)

Please turn your analog timer to your desired cooking time (see the video below). If your desired cooking time is less than 10 minutes, please turn your timer to approx. 15 minutes and then turn it back to your desired shorter cooking time.

Play Pause

The information below applies only to models NA55x.

When you use the steam-related function of your NA55x Airfryer and the water tank is not placed correctly, or there is no water in it, the appliance will detect it, and the icon (see image below) will start flashing. Please make sure there is enough water in the tank and push the tank in place. Then press the start/pause button to start cooking, and the icon will disappear.

If the previous solutions do not solve the issue, then the heater of your Philips Airfryer might be broken. In this case, please contact us for further assistance.
