Philips embraces the holy month of Ramadan with local collaborations to improve peoples’ lives

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, has embraced the holy month of Ramadan and the Year of Zayed by driving valuable social initiatives that aim to improve people’s lives in the Middle East.

In line with the vision and mission of the Year of Zayed, Philips took part in a fridge run for the second year during the Holy Month. As part of the initiative, the company selects various areas where empty fridges are placed outdoors, and designates volunteering employees to fill them with different foods and beverages. It marks Philips’ commitment to the community. Philips is also packing care bags that include eight hygiene items in an eco-friendly Jute bag to distribute to labor workers by a group of Philips employees in coordination with SmartLife.

Moreover, Philips is celebrating the fact that it has improved the lives of 110 million people across the Middle East and Turkey in 2017, which accounts for more than one third of the entire population. This is aligned with the company’s vision to make the world healthier and more sustainable and to achieve the overall goal of improving 3 billion lives a year by 2025.

To continue achieving this goal, Philips and Dubai Cares, the UAE-based global philanthropic organization working towards providing children and young people in developing countries with access to quality education, have collaborated to promote healthy living among children in schools across the globe. The joint collaboration, which first started at the 2018 Arab Health Conference, encouraged visitors to visit the stand and select three causes to support by placing charity tokens in the respective cause box. These three causes included School Nutrition, School Health Awareness and Education as well as School Health Prevention programs. Philips had then doubled the total amount of funds raised.

We are proud to have partnered with Dubai Cares to impact the lives of children and the broader society in the UAE and the world."
